Career

Austrian pioneer Wilhelm Anger, an eyewear manufacturer with his company 'Wilhelm Anger Werker', chose to name the venture after the Carrera Panamericana. This open-road race took place in Mexico in the early 1950s and is widely regarded as one of the most fearsome automobile races in the world. Over 2,000 miles long, despite the risks involved, it has an irresistible attraction for drivers and car enthusiasts of all nationalities. It is precisely the adrenaline, the great passion and the desire to challenge the limits that characterise the Panamericana that inspired Anger in 1956 and which still represent the distinctive traits of the Carrera brand today.
